Sergio Bretel Artista híbrido y multidisciplinario, explora la memoria como un territorio maleable, mutable y frágil que interactúa con el cuerpo, el tiempo y el espacio, reinterpretándolos continuamente. Su práctica investiga las formas en que la memoria se construye y se erosiona, dejando huellas tangibles tanto en nuestro entorno físico como en nuestra psique. Mediante una práctica híbrida de resistencia visual, su obra se desarrolla como una forma de excavación arqueológica contemporánea: recupera fragmentos y vestigios del pasado para recontextualizarlos y transformarlos. De este modo, convierte la experiencia estética en un acto de introspección cognitiva, creando un puente emocional entre la imperfección y la memoria colectiva.

Trabaja en proyectos de fotografía documental y retratos que abarcan temas como la migración y la memoria histórica, los derechos humanos, el impacto y la sensibilidad humana.

Sergio también es fundador y director de «BOLIVIA Fotógrafos», una plataforma sin fines de lucro para promover a los fotógrafos bolivianos.

Sergio Bretel A multidisciplinary hybrid artist, who explores memory as a malleable, mutable, and fragile territory that interacts with the body, time, and space, continuously reinterpreting them. His practice investigates the ways memory is constructed and eroded, leaving tangible traces in both our physical environment and our psyche. Through a hybrid practice of visual resistance, his work unfolds as a form of contemporary archaeological excavation—recovering fragments and vestiges of the past to recontextualize and transform them. In doing so, he turns aesthetic experience into an act of cognitive introspection, creating an emotional bridge between imperfection and collective memory.

He works on documentary photography and portraiture projects covering themes such as migration and historical memory, human rights, impact and human sensitivity.

Sergio is also founder and director of ¨BOLIVIA Fotografos¨ a non-profit platform to promote Bolivian photographers.
